Phoenix Academy leads the way in Teacher Training
Phoenix Academy, through its Institute for Teaching Excellence (ITE) recently launched the new DELTA Teacher Training course at its Perth campus. The lasttime a DELTA was offered in Western Australia was in 2003, also at Phoenix. Phoenix Academy is the only centre in Australia offering a DELTA at this time. This 8-week intensive course is one of the best known and most popular advanced TESOL qualifications in the world and can lead to greater rewards and enhanced career opportunities. The ten candidates in the recent course came from ELICOS centres in Perth, Sydney and New Zealand. The main tutors for the DELTA course were Beth Grant and Robert Fletcher from the UK and two current teacher trainers from Phoenix shadowed the UK tutors, to enable them to deliver the next DELTA course. Amongst the ten DELTA candidates were two Phoenix teachers, the course provided a huge opportunity for professional development and enabling participants to refresh their teaching knowledge, review & update their practice and extend their expertise in a specialist area. Phoenix is currently taking applications for the next DELTA course that is scheduled to run in February 2015.
